Why blogging in 2025?

Welcome to my blog!

Why I’m writing a blog in 2025? For a considerable amount of reasons:

  • I’m tired of what social media have become. Having a deep conversation on Facebook is extremely tiring because of how the interaction goes on those platforms. On Instagram, it is simply impossible.

  • I want to share my thoughts. I think there is something extremely beautiful in the possibility of sharing thoughts, ideas, experiences with people from all over the world. However, I’d like to do it in different ways than within the toxic framework of most social media. A blog, together with options such as newsletters and, hopefully, a social media platform such as Bluesky, seems something at least to try out.

  • I want to escape the marketisation of ideas. Even a platform like Medium, from what I’ve gathered, is not immune from market logic. Having a blog here seems the best way to resist that logic. I want to bring interesting, creative ideas, which are not necessarily sellable ideas.

  • I need to keep my writing skills alive. I am also a researcher, so writing is an important part of what I do. Spending time writing here has the side effect of pushing me to write more, and hopefully get better at it.

However, it is not that simple:

  • Risk of invisibility. As an artist I’m afraid of becoming invisible, as social media are ubiquotous, and we artists are constantly told to advertise ourselves on social media.

Solutions:

  • Engage in real-life encounters. Choosing a social-media-less life requires making a conscious effort to get out there, and to meet people in real life.

  • Finding creative solutions to be seen. I’m sure there are ways to improve visibility without following the most common paths. I have some ideas about it, that I will share in the next posts.

Hopefully this was an interesting read. More hopefully soon!
